Fabricated Fittings

Mazengwa Contracting responded to our clients’ needs and have invested in fabricated fittings equipment, which will allow for the manufacturing/fabrication of a wide range of bends, tees, stubs & flange, and reducers. Our manufacturing/fabrication range is up to 560 mm.

As part of our HDPE solution we have met the need for more complex and cost efficient pipeline designs by means of HDPE fabricated fittings to solve installation situations where common fittings fail.

Welding Equipment

We recognise that a pipe system is only as good as its weakest link, the joint. The jointing process used in a pipeline construction is critical to the sustainability of the system.

Butt Fusion Welding

Butt fusion welding is one of the more common methods used for the joining of pipes. Butt fusion welding is a thermo fusion process which involves the simultaneous heating of the ends of two components which are to be joined until a melt state is attained on each contact surface, thereby producing a permanent, economical and flow-efficient connection.

Butt fusion welding advantages:

  • A weld can be made over the whole joint area in a range of section sizes and complex shapes,
  • Butt fusion welding can be used on thermoplastics materials,
  • The process is normally automatic or semiautomatic and process monitoring can provide an indication of weld quality.

Electro-fusion welding

 

The electrofusion welding system is the jointing process of pipes and/or fittings of the same connection diameter, and is carried out by fusion of the contact surface through an electrical resistance inserted in the electrofusion fitting. Today it is considered the most developed and safe method for realising polyolefin jointing’s. Thanks to its versatility, electrofusion can weld together pipes and/or fittings with different thickness and made with different PO and PVDF materials.

Most Control box complies with specific requirements of electrofusion technology for gas, water, telecommunications and industrial applications.

Features and Benefits regarding electrofusion include:

  • Compact design for confined spaces; working at heights and where access is limited.
  • One machine covering complete range of up to 1200mm.
  • Comprehensive product range (tees, bends, couplers, stub ends, reducer, transition fittings etc.)
  • Barcoding system with on board memory of up to 970 welds and full traceability.
  • Data transfer by USB.
  • Equipment locally serviced and calibrated.

Lined pipe systems applications

  • Repair and rehabilitate old existing abrasion pipelines.
  • HDPE lined fittings (Bends, Tees, concentric, eccentric, laterals, etc).
  • HDPE liner provides the new or old steel pipe with greater strength and protection from erosion and corrosion by closing off the steel pipe inside walls from the flow.
  • The interior walls of the HDPE liner are also very smooth, resulting in superior fluid flow due to a reduction in resistance and friction.
  • All these properties make Mazengwa Contracting lined pipe ideal for carrying corrosive and abrasive products such as acid water, crude oil, slurry, wet gas, raffinate and effluent.

HDPE Lined Fittings

Our civil construction team has an extensive knowledge of local terrains and conditions and boasts a proven track record of timeous project delivery.

  • Our lined pipe systems are SABS and SAPPMA approved and we have successfully passed all ASTM F1545 requirements.
  • All our HDPE lined fittings are pressure tested at 1.5 times more that our customer’s service pressure. This insures our customers of world class HDPE lined fittings being produced in our lined pipe manufacturing facility.

Lined pipe system include

  • Civil road construction for optimum pipeline route. This covers detailed earthworks (anchor blocks, expansion and contraction loops and retaining walls) site clearing, cut and fill, site rehabilitation and dust suppression.
  • Roads and access ways- construction and repair.
  • Clear and grub roads in preparation for pipeline construction.
  • Site rehabilitation including rehabilitation of pipelines.
  • Lay down areas and storage yards.
  • Construction of pipe storage berm walls.
  • Pipeline culvert crossings.

Steel pipeline construction and welding – ASTM-F – 1545

Welding quality and internal seam line-up in pipeline welding is crucial to avoid defects during the HDPE lining process.

Continuous HDPE lining system

  • This system provides a continuous HDPE line that protects the carbon steel pipeline from all internal corrosive elements.
  • It also reduces friction and operating pressures in the pipeline and provides a substantial cost saving
  • This process utilizes a folded HDPE liner that is inserted into carbon steel pipelines. The liner is custom extruded to be the exact internal diameter of the steel pipe.

Pipeline Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning

  • After a pipeline is constructed and before it is put into service there are several key activities required to ensure that the pipeline meets the requirements of its owner or operators.
  • Pipeline pre-commissioning is used for bolt-up cleaning and commissioning of the pipeline and by doing inspections using torque converters with correct torque settings, CCTV camera inspections and pressure testing (Hydro or pneumatic) etc. It is integral as the core activity of pipeline construction and maintenance.

HDPE (ENVIROLINER)

Enviroliner Geomembranes are used for various applications: For Fluid and Solid containment systems Water Storage Dams/Reservoirs, Water Canals, Heap Leach Pads, Bund areas, Irrigation Dams, Aquatic Farming Ponds, Landfills, Evaporation Ponds, Aeration Ponds, Landfill Cappings, Ornamental Lakes, Potable Water, Reservoirs, Tunnels and for Environmental Protection, to name a few.

Contracting Geotextiles

Geotextils are offered in various grades to suit your protection, filtering, seperation, drainage, stabilization and reinforcement needs. Available from 120g – 1500g/m²
  • Recycled Polyester non woven needle punched geotextiles
  • Virgin Polypropylene non woven needle punched geotextiles
  • Woven polypropylene slit film geotextiles
  • (120gms – 1500gms

We offer HDPE geomembranes in various thicknesses and grades mainly:

  • 1.0mm , 1,5mm , 2mm are our main stocked products but we offer 0.3 – 3.0mm
  • Flat Die or Blown film
  • OIT/CE or GRI GM 13 or HP OIT
  • 7m / 7.5m / 8m / 5.1m widths
  • Varies with lengths ranging from 72m – 210m (depending on the thickness)
  • Smooth / Mono textured / double textured
  • Textures are offered in embossed, co-extruded blown, structured or spikes.

Geosynthetic Clay liners:

  • Consisting out of a woven and non woven geotextile with Bentinite powder / granules encased in between.
  • Manufactured according to GRI GCL3 standards.
  • 3600g/m² – 4700g/m²
Mazengwa Contracting GCL’s (Geosynthetic Clay liners) are offered in various masses and grades for sealing of Earth dams , Cappings and landfills.

Membranes

Membranes are ashed as a leakage detector in Landfills, Leachade pads and fields where leakage detection is required.

Gundrain Membranes:

  • Gundrain-1-Range – is drainage geocomposite is a preformed cavity drainage system designed to relieve water penetration from basements and buried structures. It is designed for use on both new and existing structures a preformed
  • SU – RANGE – Single cuspated HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) high strength and performance core. The core under pressure conducts leachade and other particle liquids without clogging. Generally used as a leakage detection between two geomembranes.
  • Gundrain – 2 -Range – consists of a high strength flexible polyethylene cuspated core with a non-woven geotextile filter fabric bonded onto one or either side. The geotextile filters a wide range of materials, whilst allowing free passage of fluids into the core of the geocomposite to be drained to a discharge.The HDPE core in Pozidrain forms a drainage medium, the channels between the dimples are designed to support the geotextile which is bonded to the core and ensure that it doesn’t deform into the drainage passage under the pressure of the fill material. Unlike pipes this core design allows flow in all directions. When compared with mineral drainage layers Pozidrain offers a much thinner layer with superior flow capacity. This reduces the required thickness of the capping and base lining system resulting in more fill void and buried structures.

GEOgrids:

Highly orientated polypropylene or polyester bar that is uniformly extruded or specially welded to achieve a high modulus and strength at low elongations.

GEOGRIDS are used in Base Re-enforcements, retaining wall construction, Embankment re-enforcement, Pile cap platforms

GEOcells

GEOCELLS are used as Erosion control, landscaping, Load support, Canal lining used when concreting canal.

HDPE GEOpipes

HDPE Geopipes are used for leakage detection, drainage, for fluids, cables and solids etc. Various grades offered to suit your requirements. Ø75,Ø110 and Ø160 pipes.

  • Kableflex – Underground buried cable conduit and accessories.
  • Drainex – flexible slotted drainage pipe with smooth bore.
  • Wastex – drainage pipes for the collection of Leachate in solid waste landfill enviromental containment systems.
